ROAD RUNNER, 2025, Video, single channel (color, sound), 15:15 min, Dimensions variable, Edition of 5 plus 2 artist's proofs, Courtesy of the Artist and Esther Schipper, Berlin / Paris / Seoul.
ROAD RUNNER envisions a dystopian future ruled by killer drones, blending cinema, gaming, faux commercials, and social media aesthetics. The story follows Bêrîtan as she attempts to rescue her sister from captivity inside a parallel virtual reality. Drawing on games such as GTA and Counter-Strike, Sahin fuses narrative strategies from film, gameplay, and digital platforms to produce a hybrid language both fast-paced and immersive. The visual rhythm echoes the immediacy of TikTok while drawing on militarised intensity from shooter games, underscoring how entertainment, war, and control overlap in contemporary screen culture. Through its layered narrative, ROAD RUNNER critiques the entanglement of gaming, surveillance, and resistance, offering a sharp reflection on digital captivity and the struggle for autonomy in virtual and real spaces alike.
